The short answer
Refund options depend on the fare, seller and reason for cancellation. Aer Lingus publishes a 24-hour cancellation provision for new USA, Canada and Caribbean bookings when cancellation is at least seven days before departure. Check eligibility with the issuer.

First, identify what happened
If the airline changed or cancelled a flight, read that notification before using a voluntary cancellation option. If you simply no longer want to travel, review your purchased fare conditions. Keep those two situations separate when describing your request.
Do not use a refund form just to ask a question
Aer Lingus states that submitting its refund request form cancels the flight. Read what the form will do and which passengers or segments are selected before submitting. If you only want to understand your options, ask the issuer first.
Cash, voucher and charges are different
Ask whether the proposed outcome is a cash refund, travel voucher or return of eligible taxes. Request the amount, any deduction and the expected process in writing. If a voucher is offered, read the validity and redemption conditions before choosing it.
Keep a clear record
Save your confirmation, cancellation notice, request reference and receipts. Keep one timeline of the contact attempts and responses. For an agency-issued ticket, ask the agency how the request is being handled and which organization will return any approved money.
Common questions
Does every ticket qualify for a cash refund?
No. Fare conditions and the reason for cancellation matter. Do not assume that flexibility means a full cash refund.
Can this service guarantee an airline refund?
No. The airline or ticket issuer determines eligibility and processes the request.
Should I cancel while waiting for disruption advice?
Read the airline’s notification first so that you understand which options apply before taking an irreversible step.
